Allow students, in groups or individually, to examine the primary source linked under Resources to the right, while answering the questions below in order. The questions are designed to guide students into a deeper analysis of the source and sharpen associated cognitive skills.
Level I: Description
1. List the people and objects in this photograph.
Level II: Interpretation
1.When do you think this picture was taken?
2. What are the visual clues that helped you to come up with the approximate date?
3. What do you think is the purpose of this photograph?
Level III:Analysis
1. What if I told you that this person is from Columbus, Ohio? Does that help you to identify this individual? What questions would you like to ask this person in order to be able to identify him?
2. Create an interview in which you ask your questions and he answers them.
