Description

Allow students, in groups or individually, to examine the primary source linked under Resources to the right, while answering the questions below in order. The questions are designed to guide students into a deeper analysis of the source and sharpen associated cognitive skills.

Level I: Description
1.List the items of clothing the man in the picture is wearing and the purpose of each.
2. What can you learn about the man from looking at the picture?

Level II: Interpretation
1. Explain how you know the photograph was not recently taken?
2. What details show where the man and plane are located?

Level III: Analysis
1. What does the photograph tell you about the people and the time period?
2. If you could interview this man, what would you ask him?
